Dad decided to go to his real home on Dec 23, 2005. When more time has passed and some of the pain of separation abates, I
will post more about his life. In the meantime, maybe some candid shots of the family will entertain you.
Theron Arston Phillips, 83, of Floyd, passed away Friday December 23, 2005. He was a World War II Veteran with the 80th
Infantry Division. Detach service to 12 Corp HQ, War Room Guard. Served as M.P., chauffeur, barber and whatever was needed.
He was a lifetime member of the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. He was a lifelong truck driver, self employed for the most part.
He began driving at 15 years old in W.Va. His most important jobs were son, brother, husband, daddy and papa. He was preceded
in death by his parents, John S. and Sarah "Dolly" T. Phillips; siblings, Cecil Astor Phillips, Clinton F. Phillips,
Ina P. Harris, Zola P. Duncan, Essie Bea Phillips, Reva Phillips, Rheda Phillips and Ruth Phillips. Survivors include his
wife of 59 years, Martha Agnes Phillips; daughters and sons-in-law, Patsy Phillips and Jack Whitacre, Peggy P. and Joseph
Quesenberry, Dolly P. Conner, Nancy P. and Kenny Page; grandchildren, Kristen Howell, Emily Q. Kaylor and husband Joey, Zachary
Conner, Joshua Conner, Jacob Phillips; great-grandchildren, Mikey Howell, Brittney Howell; sisters, Olivia Gardner, Trudy
Slaughter;
numerous beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday December 26, 2005 at the
Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Rev. Michael Pugh and Rev. Garry Rapp officiating and Military Rites by Hillsville
VFW Post 1115. Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Maberry Funeral Home
where the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the White Rock Church of the Brethren
Building Fund or the Charity of your choice.
